King Von

King Von was a rapper who was extremely talented . It is indeed true that Von hit success overnight, but he has dedicatedly worked for it with a strict schedule to follow, like waking up every morning, working out, and writing raps. He was an aware person who knew about what happens when you work hard.

King Von has a companion named Durk. Durk and Von shared great chemistry as they grew up in the same neighborhood. The pair collaborated on seven songs, including the standout “Still Trappin” from Durk’s 2020 album The Voice. The Voice’s cover art is in memory of Von, with a photo of the two and the words “Long Live Grandson” at the top left. The root of their chemistry was a very genuine friendship and connection. Durk was always there for Von and made sure Von started rapping.

Von’s posthumous album honours his personality in full—including the ruthless spirit that shaped the public’s conception of him, but not stopping there. You might see Von and think he is unapproachable, but he was actually the opposite of that. Despite what he was shown in the pictures, he was a kind-hearted man who could sacrifice his comfort for others.

Von was so humble and was always connected to his roots. The most publicised gesture of giving back from his side was got viral through a video that shows him going back to O’Block and giving $100,000 out to family and friends. He was like a person who had a hard shell with a soft inside. It was observed by many that when you were a bit close to him, you would find his persona with a self-defense mechanism that he used to keep people from getting too close to him. His true morals were founded on familial loyalty. He was really big on loyalty. Von’s mother, Natasha Chambers, also agrees that the biggest misconception about her son was that he was this monstrous person. In fact, in reality, he was a sweet, kind-hearted person that loved hard and would give a stranger the shirt off his back.

A budding actor, King Von was a budding actor, but an unfortunate thing happened and he was dead at age 26 after being shot in Atlanta. The tragic incident cut short one of rap’s most promising careers just a week after the release of his full-length debut, Welcome to O’Block. He started his career just a couple of years back and managed to create his own name. He had that charisma and a sense of realism to become a figure that fans adored a lot.

Now, with the release of his first album, What It Means to be King, Von’s friends and family are trying to make sure Von’s story isn’t forgotten. They are trying to continue his original vision, mixed with a dedication and celebration of life. The album is actually a depiction of why he did what he did and lived the way he did.

The album is full of anecdotal, which includes how he grew up with all his niggas in those buildings/low-income roaches on ceilings. He had poured out his emotions from a short life that was already filled with stories. He was optimistic and unguarded in his lyrics. Von raps, “Ain’t trying to over-gangbang, none of that shit.””What I am saying and what I am rapping is me. I would be lying if I was doing some other shit.”
