Biography of Randall Tex Cobb
He is better known as Randall Tex Cobb, although on May 7, 1950, in Bridge City, Texas, he was born Randall Craig Cobb. His mother, Norma Grace Williard, and his father, Glynn Cobb, were responsible for his care when he was a child.
Before enrolling at Abilene Christian University, he received his high school education at Abilene High School, which is located in Abilene, Texas. As it turned out, he couldn’t continue his education and had to withdraw from school. Cobb was always a sports fan’, playing football in high school and then switching to kickboxing after he dropped out of college.
Despite his early success as a kickboxer, he soon realized that boxing would be his only viable option to earn a living. Because of this defeat in his first two amateur battles, he turned to box. After turning professional, the first 17 of Randall Cobb’s fights were all knockouts, except for one unanimous victory.
Cobb fought in the ring as a professional boxer 51 times between 1975 and 2001, winning 42 fights and 35 knockouts. He lost seven fights. The only battle he had a tie in was with Sonny Barch, a bout he had won by knockout but had the result reversed due to the discovery of cocaine use by both fighters.
Randall Craig Cobb made his film and television debut in 1975 with The Champ and starred in Uncommon Valor and Braker the following year. When he landed the role of Lt. Munson in Vice in 2000, he had previously featured in over a dozen other movies. Code of Vengeance and Hardcastle and McCormick were his first screen appearances on television in 1985. His final television episode, Walker, Texas Ranger, aired in 2001.
Cobb went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Temple University in 2008 after retiring from boxing and the entertainment industry.
