JumpCloud, the cloud directory service that debuted at TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield in 2013, today announced a $75 million Series E. The round was led by BlackRock with the participation of current investor General Atlantic.
The company was unwilling to discuss the current valuation but has now raised more than $166 million, according to data from Crunchbase.
About JumpCloud Company
JumpCloud co-founder and CEO Rajat Bhargava says the pandemic has only accelerated the need for his company’s type of service as more businesses move to the cloud.
The company has 300 employees, with plans to add 200-250 in the next year with a goal of adding 500 in the next two years. While doing that, Bhargava, who is from South Asia, sees diversity and inclusion as important components of the hiring process. In fact, the company tries to ensure that they always have a variety of candidates in the hiring pool.
Since the pandemic, the company, which is based in Colorado, has made the decision to go remote-first, and they will be hiring across the country and around the world as they make these new hires, which could help contribute to greater diversity.
With an investment of $75 million and having reached Series E, it’s fair to ask if the company is thinking of an IPO, but Bhargava didn’t want to discuss that. There’s a lot of work to do, so we can’t wait to get it done right now,” he said.
JumpCloud, the key piece of G Suite for effective user management
JumpCloud is a DaaS (Directory as a Service) solution consisting of a cloud-based user repository. With it, IT administrators can efficiently and securely manage the users linked to an organization’s resources, assigning applications, devices and networks to them. To do this, it takes advantage of a wide variety of protocols in such a way that it is guaranteed that the organization controls all corporate resources in a completely secure way.
What benefits does a DaaS like JumpCloud bring us?
• Scalability and availability: Based on the cloud, DaaS solutions scale easily, are always available and are based on SaaS (Software as a Service).
• Cross-platform: Supports virtually all platforms and application types and leverages many standard directory and authentication protocols. In this way, support for different platforms becomes easier.
• Multiple Device Management: Being able to work at a cross-platform level increases the control IT administrators have over devices.
• Simplified integration: DaaS solutions like JumpCloud are managed by the provider, so IT organizations just add their users, and the DaaS solution takes care of the rest.
• Enhanced security: DaaS not only protects user identities through encryption and network security techniques but also detects compromises related to user credentials. As directories move to the cloud, one of the main reasons for this change is precisely the security that is brought to the management of the directory itself.
With a focus on security, with JumpCloud, you can connect virtually all of your IT resources to a single master directory. Through standard protocols such as LDAP, Kerberos, SAML, and many others, IT resources can easily authenticate in their native protocol, regardless of whether they are on-premises or cloud resources.
With JumpCloud, users can be provisioned and de-provisioned with a single click, so they can have immediate access to all IT resources or be blocked from access.
Fully integrated with G Suite.
As we have mentioned before, JumpCloud is multiplatform, with Google’s platform being one of the most relevant. It’s tightly integrated with Google, so any changes made in JumpCloud are automatically propagated to G Suite. For organizations already using G Suite, adding JumpCloud to your IT environment easily imports all users and automatically creates their identities.
For organizations looking to make the leap to the cloud, the G Suite and JumpCloud integration eliminates the need for virtually any on-premises infrastructure—no need for Microsoft Active Directory or anything else. It is a solution that extends the benefits of cloud SaaS to its ultimate consequences, providing a complete pay-per-use model with reduced maintenance and administration costs and with full capacity to grow.
JumpCloud and the GDPR
JumpCloud will adapt to the framework of the GDPR when its application begins on May 25. The tool has resolved many of the obligations that such compliance entails, both in terms of security by design as well as encryption and data protection. You can do it without any commitment.
